Delegate and Shell employee Christopher Hay’s photo’s and story and motivation to attend the OYW summit.
The energy transition and access to energy are the biggest challenges facing this generation. With growing population and rising energy consumption, it will take the combined efforts of us all to sustainably solve the issue. Therefore, I am committed to using my role as president of Young Shell to provide my peers with the tools and knowledge they need to take a role in addressing this issue. An example of this would be the global events I have organized, which brought together over 125 young professionals from around the world to work together on issues surrounding the energy transition. In addition to this voluntary role working with our young professionals, in my role as a concept engineer for new energies and gas projects, I have a deep technical and commercial understanding of providing low cost sustainable energy solutions. This is something I want to use in social performance projects and would use the opportunity provided by One Young World to further develop.
I expect One Young World to provide me an opportunity to engage with truly inspiring people with a broad spectrum of experiences. From the examples and stories at the summit, I expect to be able to find new ideas for initiatives to utilize the collective knowledge and passion of Shell's young professionals to address energy issues.
