In my role as global lead for Access to Energy Social Investment at Shell, I work every day with our country teams and global partners to make sure Shell plays its part in addressing the global energy access challenge. I advise country teams on how to develop sustainable, market-based and scalable access to energy programmes that leave a measurable socioeconomic impact with our neighboring communities.
Next to that I develop strategic ways for Shell to deliver access to energy and make sure it remains a priority issue for us, and represent the company externally, working to ensure we play our part in the global efforts to deliver sustainable and affordable energy to all. That includes bringing in external best practices and remaining in touch with those who deliver impact on the ground - NGOs, entrepreneurs and communities.
I believe strongly in the concept of One Young World - bringing together bright young minds that want to leverage their positions within large corporations, universities, or their own entrepreneurial spirit to make a difference in the world around them. Our generation of millennials is all about collaborating, breaking down silos and hierarchies and finding smart, pragmatic solutions. I want to indulge in that spirit and gain new perspectives on the role that corporations like Shell should play in addressing global challenges.
