Project: ‘Recycled Island Foundation (RIF)’
Iris Overeem would love to wake up one day, in a world where companies, governments and communities work to effectively combat climate change together. Until then, Iris makes her own mark on society by, among other things, joining the team at the ‘Recycled Island Foundation (RIF)’, Rotterdam, as their PR, Partnerships & Education officer. ‘RIF’ aims to tackle the problem of plastic pollution in open waters by collecting floating waste in rivers and estuaries, sustainable recycling of plastics, organizing clean-up actions, and through awareness and education. Iris has been passionate and motivated by sustainability and the environment for a long time, as well as her work for ‘RIF’, she studies European Studies part-time in Rotterdam and also volunteers for ‘Green Peace’.
Iris would like to personally achieve from the OYW Shell Scholarship Programme 2019:
"I would like to grow my network of activists, organisations, investors, connectors and experts in the field of sustainability, as well as improve my pitch skills.”
