When I was 18, I’ve build a microbial fuel cell, at the time not knowing that renewables are going to play such a vital role in our future. Now, 10 years later, I realize more than ever that as an energy industry professional it’s my responsibility to develop understanding of all kinds of energy sources/carriers the world has to offer. For my role as Reservoir Engineer at Shell, I develop new oil and gas projects within countries where access to energy is for example lacking. Furthermore, I try to challenge myself externally: I just finished an online Wind Energy Course & in my role at the ‘Klimaat- en Energiekoepel’ I contribute to the new Dutch Climate Law together with an amazing group of bright, young professionals. I hope the world understands we need to move from perceptions such as ‘Camp Fossil’ & ‘Camp Renewable’ to a mutual goal: clean, affordable energy for all.
